While Syracuse, New York claims her birthplace, Bonnie Colgan grew up in the Southern California beach community of Hermosa Beach. She saw many wonders of nature that would prove to be inspirational for a lifelong curiosity about the world around her.
Bonnie received a graduate degree in Fine Arts at the University of Southern California and a Masters Degree in Public School Administration. These were foundations for her first career where she served as an urban city school teacher and principal with The Los Angeles Unified School District. Her leadership assignments, in a variety of communities, eventually led in the establishment of a visual and performing arts magnet center, a component of the district's voluntary integration program.
In her second career today as a self taught photographer, she pursues graphic images that document the natural beauty and wonders around us. With her camera lens Bonnie captures breathtaking landscape and diverse animal images. Her camera eye also seeks the personal as depicted in her work with the Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee and big Boat Yacht Racing.
Her work is routinely published in regional papers and magazines, and her twin book publication, Moments in Time, is a pictorial of photos featuring jazz musicians from across the country, event volunteers and Mardi Gras parties during the annual Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee.
